Biographies of Las Casas PrincipalsJocelyn L. Straus, Founding Chairperson, nationally recognized arts advocate, is the driving force behind the preservation and restoration of the Majestic Theatre and the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre. Her volunteer work is dedicated to the arts and to the enrichment of the San Antonio community. She is a member emeritus of the National Council on the Arts and currently serves on the National Board of River Walk, Live from the Landing, and the Advisory Boards of the San Antonio Children’s Museum and the Children’s Fine Arts Series. She is on the Executive Committee of the Texas Cultural Trust Council and the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. Straus serves as President of the Development Board for the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, as well as many other community and state boards. She has been active in Republican politics on the local, state and national levels for many years. Frank Z. Ruttenberg, Chairman, is a Shareholder with the Law firm of Winstead PC where his practice focuses on business, real estate, water law and finance. He is a graduate of New York University School of Law, St. Mary’s University School of Law and University of Texas at Austin where he received his B.B.A., Finance. Mr. Ruttenberg is involved in the American Bar Association; State Bar of Texas, Business Law Section and has received recognition as a Texas Super Lawyers as well as the Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Ruttenberg has been a longstanding Las Casas Board member and had served as Assistant Treasurer prior to being elevated to the position of Chairman of the Board. Kathryn L. Rhoads, President, is currently working as a consultant for the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and has served Las Casas as a Board member, Vice President and now President. Lynn Zalcberg, Executive Director, is responsible for the administration, management and the overall development of Las Casas, the execution of all fund raising activities, special events, original programming and community outreach initiatives.
